A SOUTH Cumbria man has been sentenced to jail after police found more than £1,000 worth of drugs in his car.
Jordan Jenkinson, 23, of Romney Gardens, Kendal, was sentenced yesterday to three months in prison at Carlisle Crown Court.
He pleaded guilty to possession of a Class A drug (cocaine), possession of a Class B drug (cannabis), offering to supply Class B drugs (cannabis), driving while being disqualified, having no insurance, and driving while unfit through drugs.
On May 18, officers found Jenkinson asleep in his car, which was parked in Romney Gardens with the engine running.
A search of the vehicle led officers to a small quantity of cannabis and 12 grams of cocaine - the latter valued at around £1,300.
Jenkinson was arrested and taken to custody, where tests proved that he had both cannabis and cocaine in his system.
Detective Constable Garin Scott said: "It is a very serious offence to be in control of a vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. It is not something that Cumbria Police take lightly.
"Drugs ruin lives - not just that of the user but of those in the communities they live in.
"Cumbria Police will continue to work hard to tackle the issue and ensure offenders such as Jenkinson are brought to justice."
