The bold new initiative has been put into place at the 1,650-pupil Philip Morant School and College in Colchester, Essex.
Headteacher Catherine Hutley hopes the move will give teachers the time to plan lessons of a higher quality, admitting that their jobs have become "impossible" due to time constraints.
