A MUSIC festival attracted large crowds this weekend to watch a wide variety of homegrown talent.

The second Rock the Fells event took place in a field near Bootle station to raise money for Bootle and District Community First Responders.

Organisers Dan Colagiavanni and Pete Mills started planning this year's event right after last year's one finished.

Mr Colagiavanni said: "There is just so much amazing stuff happening in the local school we wanted to showcase it.

"It is really easy to put together because there is so much talent."

The Twitchers headlined on the main stage. The post-punk revival tunes that the Cumbrian band are known for have seen them work with BBC Introducing.

The acoustic stage saw everything from blues and rock, to punk and folk.

Mr Colagiavanni said: "We just wanted to show people what was going on in Cumbria, and the talent it has to offer. There is so much stuff going on it is absolutely hectic."

Throughout the day, Captain Shaw's Nursery CE Primary School ran a shuttle bus service to bring in people who had parked away from the field.

Rock the Fells had a main stage, acoustic stage, community stage, children's tent and performances in the field all day and night.

Mr Colagiavanni said: "We couldn't have done this without the help of all the volunteers."
