A lottery ticket-holder scooped a jackpot of £26.1 million in Wednesday's draw, Camelot said.

The staggering total is the sixth this year to be won in the National Lottery that is worth more than £20 million.

The winning numbers were 04, 54, 03, 59, 02 and 32 and the bonus number was 12.

Andy Carter, senior winners' adviser at the National Lottery, said: "Congratulations to another big Lotto winner in 2016. This is the sixth player to bank a jackpot of more than £20 million this year and continues Lotto's extraordinary run of millionaire making.

"We urge all players to check their tickets to see if they have a life-changing £26.1 million jackpot waiting for them."

It follows a series of big lottery wins so far this year, including several that exceeded £30 million.

In April, one player settled into life £35.1 million richer after Camelot paid out the biggest prize ever won in the game.

Earlier in the year, David and Carol Martin, from the Scottish Borders, banked £33,035,323 after they and another winner, who chose to remain anonymous, broke a 21-year record when they split a £66 million jackpot that was the result of 14 rollovers.

Weeks later Gerry and Lisa Cannings, from Deeping St James, near Peterborough in Cambridgeshire, snapped up £32.5 million.

The previous record was a jackpot of £22.5 million, claimed by two business partners from St Leonards-on-Sea in 1995.

In 1996, three winners shared a £44 million prize, taking home more than £14 million each.
