Corbyn: EU stay is in best interests of British people

STAYING in the European Union is in the best interests of the British people, Jeremy Corbyn will say as he vows to use the referendum campaign to "stand up for public ownership".

The Labour leader will vow to push for a "real social Europe" in the run-up to the vote promised by David Cameron.

Mr Corbyn, who has a history of Euroscepticism, will stress that he wants to see further reforms in Brussels, including stronger workers' rights and an end to the pressure to privatise public services.

Charities set for ban on using government grants for lobbying

CHARITIES will be banned from using government grants to fund campaigns to pressure ministers to change policies under new rules.

A clause inserted into new and renewed grant agreements is aimed at making sure that taxpayers' money is spent on improving people's lives and good causes, rather than lobbying for new regulation or increased funding, the Cabinet Office said.

Hunt for gunmen at Dublin boxing event

A MAJOR manhunt is under way after gunmen who dressed in women's clothes and SWAT team uniforms attacked a boxing event armed with "AK-47-style" rifles and handguns, leaving one man dead and two more injured.

Four attackers burst into the Regency Hotel in Dublin, where up to 300 fans including children had gathered for the event, on Friday, sending bystanders running for their lives as the gang, one of whom was disguised as a "woman and wearing an auburn wig" and the others as "crime drama" police officers, opened fire in the lobby.
