A 69-year-old man was rescued after falling from the summit of a popular fell.
The man had been posing for a photo when he slipped, falling into a crevice on Helm Crag, near Grasmere.
He sustained head, neck and chest injuries.
The Langdale and Ambleside MRT crew of 16 had some difficulty rescuing him and the operation took three and a half hours before he could be taken to hospital by air ambulance.

Shortly afterwards, a woman who had assisted in the rescue of the man was also injured.
She had continued her walk when she slipped and sustained a suspected fractured wrist.
She too was assisted to the air ambulance and evacuated with the previous casualty.
