A MOTORCYCLIST has died after a crash on the A590 in south Cumbria.

A motorbike and a car collided at Levens between Brettargh Holt and the Meathop roundabout just before 2pm last Friday.

The North West Air Ambulance airlifted a woman in her 70s from the car to the Royal Preston Hospital, after she sustained serious neck and back injuries.

Doctors anaesthetised the man, believed to be the motorcyclist, and gave him a blood transfusion at the scene before The Great North Air Ambulance airlifted him to Royal Preston Hospital with critical injuries.

Police have since confirmed that the man died last night.

In a statement, Cumbria police said: "Police can confirm that the motorcyclist involved in the collision on the A590 on Friday (Friday 2nd) died in hospital on Tuesday September 6.
