A MAN has been charged after an alleged stabbing in a West Cumbria pub.

Police say the incident took place at 10.40pm at the Three Tuns in Duke Street, Whitehaven, on Saturday night.

The victim was taken to hospital following the incident and is in a serious but stable condition.

Police are appealing for people who may have seen anything in the run-up to the incident to get in touch.

Tyrone Glaister, 51, of Duke Street, Whitehaven, was charged with GBH with intent, attempted GBH with intent and possessing a bladed article in a public place. He was due to appear at West Cumbria Magistrates' Court this morning.

Anyone with information is asked to get in touch with West Cumbria CID on 101, asking to speak to Detective Sergeant Jim Rooney or Detective Constable David Matthews.
