A MAN accused of conducting a burglary in Bowness that left a Staffie with horrific injuries has been bailed.

Patrick Ruddy, of The Heights, Backlane, Kendal, appeared before Carlisle Crown Court yesterday.

Man to be sentenced for drink-drive offence

The 44-year-old pleaded not guilty to the incident which involved a wallet containing £285 being stolen and a Staffordshire Bull Terrier being stabbed in the leg.

It is alleged that Mr Ruddy entered the property in Helm Close with an accomplice, using an axe to force entry.

Man accused of assaulting an officer

The defendant denied the charges and has been bailed.

He will be electronically monitored and must not contact any witnesses or enter Bowness.

His trial will take place on the week of January 16 2017.
