MOTORISTS have been warned to expect long delays if they are travelling southbound on the M6 after a collision between a car and a lorry.

Lancashire Constabulary's road police unit arrived just after 9am this morning to deal with the incident which happened between junction 32 and 31a.

Junction 32 southbound has since been closed following the incident as police attempt to move the HGV which has spilled out on to the central reservation.

One lane has had to stay closed after serious damage was caused to the crash barrier when the lorry jack-knifed into the central reservation.

Motorists are warned to expect heavy queuing traffic on the M6 southbound between junction 32, the M55 at Broughton interchange and junction 31a and the B6242 at Longridge due to the accident.
