Ex-politician and TV star Lembit Öpik joined motorcyclists and Copeland's MP at a bike rally.

Lembit, who is a former Lib Dem MP and is famed for his appearance on ITV’s I’m A Celebrity in 2010, now works for the Motorcycle Action Group (MAG).

This organisation campaigns to protect and promote the interests and rights of riders.

Furness Motorcycle Action Group's recently held its annual Dead End Rally at Dalton-in-Furness, which was open to all bikers, including those from West Cumbria.

Trudy Harrison, Copeland's MP, also attended and signed up to become a MAG member.

The rally featured bands and a bike competition with a selection of categories.

Lembit said: "I love coming up because the sense of team spirit and the ability to have a good time are just plain obvious - and that’s a tribute to the organisers as well as those who come along.

"The fact that Trudy Harrison also visited and signed up to MAG is great news too. It shows that visitors are also impressed by the quality of this event and the warm welcome people receive when they arrive.

"In fact, overall, four ‘B’s sum up this festival: Great bikes, bikers, beer and bands."

He judged two categories in the bike show: best in show and the best rat bike.

Barbara Cairns, Cumbria MAG Regional Secretary, said: "We at Furness MAG held our sixth Dead End Rally which was sold out this year, we had live music both on night which went down a storm with the rally goers."

She thanked Mrs Harrison for judging some of the bikes along with MAG representatives.

Michael Armstrong, MAG’s Cumbria representative, has praised Mrs Harrison and also Workington MP Sue Hayman for supporting the action group.
