An 11-year-old girl has been injured after being hit by a bus on a residential street in Cumbria.
The youngster was airlifted to hospital following the collision on Sneckyeat Road, Whitehaven, on Wednesday afternoon.
Cumbria Police were called to the scene by the ambulance service at 4.15pm and the road has been closed in both directions.
The child, who is from the area, was taken to Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool.
A Cumbria police spokeswoman said: "The child has sustained head injuries and has been taken by air ambulance to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool."
Witnesses are asked to contact officers on 101.
