THE timetable for the General Election on June 8 has been published.

The dates, which apply to Barrow Borough Council, South Lakeland District Council and Copeland Borough Council, reveal when residents and prospective candidates must register their interest in order to vote and stand in the General Election.

The dates have been confirmed by The Electoral Commission.

KEY DATES

Dissolution of parliament: Wednesday May 3

Deadline for delivery of nomination papers: 4pm on Thursday May 11.

Publication of persons nominated and polling station details: 5pm on Thursday May 11 (if no objections).

Deadline for residents to register to vote: Monday May 22.

Deadline for receiving new postal and proxy vote applications: 5pm on Wednesday May 31.

Polling day: 7am until 10pm on Thursday June 8.
