DELAYS are continuing to affect rail passengers on a major route through Cumbria after a train derailed.
An engineering train came off the track near Carnforth, Lancashire, this morning, affecting services by Northern, TransPennine Express and Virgin Trains.
The train has been rerailed, allowing all lines between Preston and Carlisle/Windermere to reopen.
Trains between these stations may still be delayed by up to 30 minutes as services return to normal.
Passengers are advised to check the status of their journey before leaving.
Virgin Trains passengers travelling to/from Glasgow Central/Edinburgh may use tickets dated today on services tomorrow.
