Heavy rain hasn't been dampening the spirits of the cast and crew of a new BBC sitcom filming in the Lake District.

Tomorrow an all-star cast is due to finish filming the final scenes needed for the six-part series Home from Home.

Actor and comedian Johnny Vegas has given the The Mail a glimpse of life on the set of the series which has been filmed in and around Pooley Bridge for the last six weeks.

Part of the popular Hillcroft Park campsite has been transformed and used as the main set.

Johnny plays the central character of Neil Hackett who has fulfilled his dream of buying a lodge and moving to the Lake District.

Johnny - real name Michael Pennington - also revealed how this part of the picturesque Cumbrian countryside has been providing a warm welcome to the team.

He said: "The way we've been to feel welcome has been great. We feel very ingratiated with the folk here. Everyone has also been very interested in what we're doing."

Last year's pilot was screened on BBC2 as part of its Landmark Sitcom Season.

Home from Home has now been commissioned by BBC1 and is expected to be screened in a prime-time slot this autumn.
