With summer just around the corner three Cumbrian butchers have won their way through to the finals of the National BBQ Awards.

Cranstons, which has stores across the county, will join Higginsons of Grange and the Dales Traditional Butchers, of Kirkby Lonsdale, at the awards ceremony in St Albans, Hertfordshire on Sunday.

All three will face a grilling from the judges in the competition which is held annually by the prestigious Q Guild of Butchers.

Cranstons won the regional prize in three categories; rump steak, beefburger and speciality burger with its topside and cheddar offering. Higginsons took the speciality sausage category with its Cumberland and cranberry while Dales won plaudits for its lamb rump in the speciality BBQ product.

The three regional winners will compete at the final in their categories nationally for the overall prize of supreme champion.
