THIS October Cumbria will be getting out and about with the Go Active Weekend.

The weekend will see sports and activity clubs from across the county offer taster sessions, discounts, special events and more.

The event is part of the Go Active campaign launched by the North West Evening Mail earlier this month, and will take place on October 1 & 2.

The aim of the weekend is to encourage Cumbria to get active following on from the Olympic games.

Currently 68 per cent of Cumbrians are inactive - doing less than 30 minutes exercise a month.

Go Active in Cumbria aims to improve on this by making sports and activity more accessible to all, partially through events like the Go Active Weekend.

The event follows on from the success of Cumbria Weekend , an annual event spearheaded by the North West Evening Mail and Cumbria Live.

Nick Turner, digital strategy manager for CN Group said: “Hopefully Cumbrians will jump at the chance to take part in Go Active Weekend, and take advantage of all the free activities that will be on offer all around the county”

The Go Active Weekend takes place October 1 & 2 2016
