A MAN from Cumbria has been placed in a medically-induced coma and flown to hospital after suffering life-threatening injuries.

The Great North Air Ambulance was called to a property near to St James' Park in Carlisle yesterday at around 1.15pm.

A man in his 40s had fallen at home and suffered a serious head injury.

He was placed in a medically-induced coma and flown to Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary where his condition was described as critical on arrival.
