AN iconic riverside restaurant is celebrating after it was recognised as one of the best eateries in the UK.

TripAdvisor's Travellers' Choice Restaurants awards 2016 has placed L'Enclume in Cartmel in tenth place in the UK Fine Dining category.

Based on an algorithm which takes into account quantity and quality of customer reviews, the results were chosen after a 12 month period of data collection.

Simon Rogan, Head Chef of L'Enclume describes his eatery as a "magical Cumbrian hideaway where passion and creativity showcase the finest home-grown, hand-picked ingredients and harness the powerful connection between food and nature."
