A CUMBRIA MP has called on the government to commit more cash to tackling the county's potholes.
Westmorland and Lonsdale MP Tim Farron says figures show that in Cumbria, even with an additional £1m promised by the government earlier this month, the total amount of pothole maintenance funding for the 2016/17 year has been cut by £810,000 compared to the previous year.
Mr Farron said: “Once again, there is a massive disconnect between what the government announces in press releases, and how much money Cumbria actually receives. The government needs to back up its rhetoric with action.”
