TWO days of engineering activities for young enthusiasts are coming to a popular local railway attraction.
Young boys and girls from ages five upwards who love steam engines can experience a day packed with rail-related fun at the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway .
The heritage railway – known affectionately as La’al Ratty – has joined forces with Christopher Vine, author of Peter's Railway , to offer behind-the-scenes insights into how a narrow-gauge railway and its locos work.
The adventure weekend takes place on Saturday and Sunday. Both days start with a visit to the engine shed, exploring how the engines work, followed by loco rides for up to seven miles, readings from Christopher Vine and signed copies of his book, as well as a trip inside the railway museum.
The cost is £15 for an adult and £7.50 for a child. One adult can be accompanied by a maximum of two children and bookings can be made at www.ravenglass-railway.co.uk.
