The body of a missing man, last believed to have been in Cumbria, has been found, say his family.

Colin Bamber's family posted the update on a Facebook group set up to try and help find him.

An appeal for information was issued by police forces in Cumbria and his native Merseyside on January 3.

His car was last seen in Ambleside.

The 50-year old himself was last seen driving away from his Liverpool home around that time.

A post in the Facebook group by his daughter Steph read: "After more than seven weeks after my dad being missing, we got news today [Friday] that his body has been found and been confirmed that it is my dad unfortunately we didn’t find him in time.

"We are so heartbroken right now and it really doesn’t feel real.

"We would like to thank everyone for their support and everyone who was offering to help for the search.

"We are so overwhelmed with everyone but right now just need to grieve and stick together as family."

Colin was found in the Ambleside area, it is believed.
