MOTORISTS are experiencing major delays on the A590 in both directions after a three-vehicle crash.

The collision between two cars and a pick-up truck has happened at Swarthmoor close to the Miners Arms on the A590 at around 3.30pm.

The East-bound carriageway is blocked following the crash. The two cars were a Kia Soul driven by a 26-year-old Dalton woman, and a Volkswagan driven by a 59-year-old Lancashire man.

A police spokesman confirmed an ambulance had attended, but none of the drivers are believed to have sustained serious injuries.

The crash is understood to have involved one of the vehicles turning off the main road.

Traffic travelling eastbound towards the M6 is particularly heavy, but delays are being experienced in both directions.

Motorists were already facing minor delays because of one lane closure by the construction of the new Blue Light Hub in Ulverston.
