A company has donated a number of bikes to a nature reserve-based cycling charity.

The Watchtree Wheelers, which is based at Watchtree Nature Reserve near Carlisle and promotes cycling across its grounds, received the donation of five bikes from Saddle Skedaddle.

The bikes will now be serviced by the nature reserve's team of volunteer mechanics and will be available to buy from Watchtree Wheelers in the near future.

All funds raised from the sale of the bikes will be used towards maintaining the existing Wheelers' fleet and developing their accessible cycling services.

Ryan Dobson, Watchtree general manager, was on hand to thank Skedaddle for the generous donation.

He said: "We are incredibly grateful to Skedaddle for offering Watchtree Wheelers these fantastic bikes - they will appeal to many of our customers who will get an opportunity to own one at a vastly reduced price, while still raising valuable funds for the charity."

Skedaddle has over 20 years of national and international cycling holiday experience and offers guided or self-guided cycling holidays that include accommodation, meals, transport, and technical support.

These also include local trips such as the Coast to Coast route, Reivers Trails in Northumberland, and the Hadrian's Cycleway.

After making the donation, a Skedaddle spokesperson expressed his delight at being able to support the local charity.

They said: "We keep our hire fleet updated regularly so it makes us happy that donating these bikes will make a real difference within our community.

"Watchtree Wheelers is an important local charity for getting young people into cycling, and making cycling accessible to everyone and we are really proud to support them."
