A DOCTOR's surgery has revealed the number of appointments wasted by people who fail to turn up to appointments.
Market Street Medical Practice in Dalton says during the month of April, 71 appointments were not attended, including 15 routine face-to-face GP appointments, three 24-hour GP appointments and 9 same-day urgent GP appointments.
Ten blood sampling appointments were also not attended meaning other patients may have had to travel to Furness General Hospital as their blood appointments are 'often at capacity'.
A spokesperson said: "During the month of April our team offered and booked 2656 appointments across our GP’s, Nurses, HCA’s, physios, pharmacists and mental health practitioners.
"If you cannot attend a pre-booked appointment please remember to respond to your reminder text, give us a call (the lines are often quieter later in the day) or pop in.
"When our reception team are asking for details when booking an appointment it’s to direct you to the correct member of our team or other appropriate service."
