A NEW family-run restaurant offering a wide variety of tantalising dishes and drinks including cocktails has opened in Hawkshead.

Billy’s Barr & Restaurant is located onsite at The Croft Lakes Lodges, North Lonsdale Road, and is now open for both holidays makers and local residents.

The business opened its doors to the public last week after an arduous 18-month project to convert the previous toilet facilities into a restaurant was finally completed.

The restaurant, which is named after the site’s owner, William Barr, is headed by chef Joe Daly and fronted by Ed Johnson.

Between the duo, they have years’ worth of experience in the industry.

Chef Daley has helped the owners to create 'meticulously crafted' breakfast, lunch and dinner menus, including a la carte.

There is also a Sunday Roasts and Children’s menu, as well as the option of takeaway breakfasts in the morning.

Charlotte Wood, co-owner of Billy’s Barr & Restaurant, said: “We’ve had a really busy first week, which has been great. It’s been amazing to finally open and offer the service to everybody.

“There’s been a lot of hard work put into opening Billy’s. It’s been a great team effort. We’ve had some great architects who have helped to design it. We are hoping it will be a really good asset to the village.

“We decided to open a restaurant as it’s a natural progression from the lodges we have.

“We see a lot of potential in opening up this restaurant in Hawkshead – it’s such a beautiful place. We are trying to be as welcoming and accommodating as possible.

"There is outdoor seating, a lovely fire inside, a fully licensed bar and fantastic food. We also hope the service is really good as well.”
