A NEW cookbook from the Hairy Bikers was launched with an emotional message from Si King.

Si shared details of his final project with Dave Myers, who died aged 66 in February following a battle with cancer.

The duo had been cooking together, writing recipes and filming TV shows since their 2004 debut, The Hairy Bikers’ Cookbook.

Their latest project, the cookbook The Hairy Dieters’ Fast & Fresh, was developed and written before Dave's death, with King writing on Instagram: "Dave and I loved working on this book last year, we are incredibly proud of it and we hope you enjoy it."

The recipes are inspired by ingredients of the Mediterranean with dishes including a red pepper salad with feta, black bean soup, spinach and halloumi curry, and beef ragu with mushrooms.

In a Facebook post, Si said Dave was 'very' proud of the book with 80 easy-to-prep and low-calorie dishes.

He said: "Hello everyone it's Si here. Fast and Fresh from The Hairy Dieters is available tomorrow. Thank you if you pre-ordered, it's hugely appreciated.

"It was a book that Dave and I really loved working on. There are 80 delicious and easy recipes, easy as I know we are all pushed for time these days. I do not know how that happens but we just are are not we.

"It is a lovely book and we had the greatest of joy in working on it together - Dave was very proud of it.

"Here it is. Lots of love to you all. Thank you for your continued support. It does not go unnoticed. I hope you enjoy Fast and Fresh."

Earlier this week, friends and family of Dave came together to celebrate the life of the Hairy Biker at an event held at Fortnum and Mason's store in London.

Si took to social media on Tuesday to share a glimpse into what the party entailed.

He commented: "We had a wonderful evening reminiscing about our dear friend and the room was filled with love as you’d expect – Dave would have loved it.

"Thank you to all that could make it – you made it very special."
