An open day is set to take place next month for the first housing development of its kind in the Lake District.

Wellbank Park at Bootle is the largest custom build (12 Acres) site in the national park with very few like it in the UK.

Together with Hugr Homes and Brickhouse Cottages, who provide holidays for people dealing with disabilities, it aims to be the first custom-build community in Cumbria.

Its designers have listed unique aspects such as:

  • Health and wellbeing central to the design

  • A community hub with swimming Pool, Hydro Pool, sauna, bistro/cafe and meeting rooms

  • Eight Holiday cottages for the disabled.

  • Developers are currently working with Cumbria wildflowers and SLOG (South Lakes Orchard Group) to help with landscaping for biodiversity.

  • The complex also boasts a large plot size and sustainable, green heating with a small district heating scheme

Developers are also working with Cumbria Tourism on the project.

Phase 1 is already open with five plots already sold.

The open day will take place on Saturday, May 18 from noon until 4pm.

The postcode for the site is LA19 5TD.
