Barrow AFC have announced the postponement of an upcoming event so that they can celebrate Dave Day.

The club were scheduled to be hosting their 'Summer Family Disco' on June 8, which would have clashed with the town's celebration of Dave Myers.

The day will see thousands of motorbike enthusiasts travel into town as part of a number of memorial events in honour of the beloved Hairy Biker.

A club spokesperson said: "As Barrow-in-Furness prepares to pay tribute to his memory on the 8th of June, it is only fitting that we align our efforts in honouring his legacy.

"While we understand the disappointment this may bring to those who were eagerly looking forward to the Summer Disco, we believe that participating in the memorial events is a meaningful way for us to come together as a community and celebrate the life of a remarkable individual.

"We extend our deepest condolences to Liliana, their family, friends, and fans of Dave Myers during this time of remembrance - our thoughts are with all those who have been touched by his extraordinary spirit."

A new date for the summer disco will be announced in due course.
