The brewers from Fell Brewery, Flookburgh, have teamed up with Our Farm by Simon Rogan to produce a new drink.

Together they worked to produce a second brew in their collaborative series of four limited edition beers.

The joint venture has resulted in a refreshing Courgette & Mint Gose, using homegrown surplus produce from Our Farm near the picturesque Lake District village of Cartmel.

Gose beers are known for an unconventional salty and sour flavour, which lets them pair well with more unusual ingredients such as courgette and fresh herbs.

With a low ABV of 3 per cent, the mint and courgette flavoured brew offers a distinctive palate cleanser, retaining a lingering freshness.

The beer is now ready to be served at the inaugural 'Local Heroes', hosted from Tuesday, April 16 to Saturday, April 20.

Located at Simon Rogan's one Michelin-starred Rogan & Co, Cartmel, it is a week-long event celebrating local artisans.

During this week, guests can enjoy the Courgette & Mint Gose paired with a specially designed seasonal menu by head chef Tom Reeves.

Nicolas Perdrier, operations manager with the Simon Rogan restaurant group said: “Our ethos is underpinned by who we work with, and we only consider teaming up with producers if they operate in the same way we do, so responsible, sustainably-minded and local wherever possible.

"Fell Brewery align with us on so many levels and we are proud to serve our second collaborative beer as part of our ‘Local Heroes' celebrations at Rogan & Co later this month.’’

The distinctive beverage can be purchased through 'Home' by Simon Rogan, Mr Rogan’s Lake District restaurants, and Fell's bars in Cumbria, as well as on their e-retail site.

Founding Fell Brewery, Tim Bloomer's brewing approach includes sourcing and using locally produced ingredients.

He said: "When we were approached by Simon’s team to see if we could incorporate some of these classic Rogan ingredients into a beer, I saw the value straight away and understood entirely.

"At Fell, we are striving to embrace our surroundings more in everything we do, to be a brewery that is truly of this amazing place."
