The public can discover how a company in Barrow have revolutionised global sea trade.

James Fisher Tankships launched the MV Sir John Fisher towards the end of 2022. It was the first dual fuel ship in its fleet to allow its carbon emissions to be reduced by 45%.

The Barrow and District Association of Engineers will be hosting a lecture on April 18 at the Forum from 7:30pm.

Iain Salter, the New Buildings Manager at James Fisher, will discuss the ship, how it was built, and how it has performed in its first full year of operation.

Her sister ship, MV Lady Maria Fisher, also joined the fleet last year, showing a further commitment by the company to reducing emissions, which will also be detailed in the lecture.
