A special performance which tells the story of Furness Abbey in words and music is set to take place in Ulverston this month.
'In the Valley of the Deadly Nightshade' will begin with the foundation of the Abbey in the 12th century and finish with the dissolution under Henry VIII in the mid-16th century.
It will be performed by The Dorian Players - a local group of musicians specialising in early music.
The group will be in costume and will be using replicas of early, original instruments.
These include crumhorns, gemshorns, a hurdy-gurdy, medieval fiddle, gothic harp and viols.
Organiser Alison Bolt said: "This concert will be of interest to anyone interested in the history of the Abbey as well as those who enjoy early music, and we hope that it will be well-attended."
The performance will take place at 2.30pm on April 14 at Ulverston Parish Church.
Admission is £10 for adults and £5 for under 18s. It is cash only.
