Owners Jen Kenderdine and Sue Walker both have a background in hospitality and used to work in catering at Dalton Zoo together.

They took over Mammy's Cafe in 2018 and have now decided not to relocate to the new Barrow market and to re-brand as part of the move - which includes a brand new name.

Sue said: "We've decided to have a bit of a re-vamp and we're now going to be called Dapper Delights.

"We're still in the process of getting everything sorted at the moment, however our colour scheme is going to be blue.

"We're going to have a bigger seating area and in terms of the menu, we'll still have the same as what we have always made but we're going to add to it."

The Mail: Outside the new premisesThe café will be at the centre of the Barrow town centre regeneration project and close to BAE's Careers Inspiration Hub at the Portland Walk Campus.

Last year, the company purchased several retail properties in the town, including the former Debenhams, WHSmith and Bodyshop units.

The vacant sites are currently being transformed into vibrant new spaces to provide the local community with education, outreach and recruitment services.

BAE will be recruiting almost 1,000 apprentices and graduates to join the Barrow shipyard in 2024.

The Mail: The seating area is in the process of being revampedSue added: "It's an ideal location close to the former Debenhams store and by the recruitment hub.

"We're really looking forward to being at the centre of things and welcoming our old customers to see the re-vamp - as well as plenty of new ones."

A final date is yet to be announced for the opening of the new business, however, it is expected to be in April during the next couple of weeks.
