RESCUERS faced a 'seriously windy day' to rescue a walker near the Old Man of Coniston.
Coniston Mountain Rescue Team (CMRT) rescued a man who was 'blown over' and sustained a leg injury on the Old Man of Coniston.
The team received support from Cumbria Police and the Duddon and Furness Mountain Rescue Team (DFMRT) for assistance.
A spokesperson for CMRT said: "We had a number of our team members assisting with the Coniston 14 road race who were therefore unavailable for this incident because of the timing.
"In pretty serious conditions, the man was assessed, strong pain relief given, and a leg splint applied. We then stretchered him off the hill, and he was taken by land ambulance from our base to Furness General Hospital for further treatment."
The incident happened yesterday (March 23) at 10.05am with 11 CMRT members plus 12 from DFMRT. It took four hours to complete.
