A BARROVIAN businesswoman turned a £530 loan given by her grandmother into a worldwide beauty business used by celebrities.

Chloe Warsh is the owner and founder of the former Coco Cosmetics by Chloe set up in 2018. However, due to legal issues, it has recently been rebranded to Clomaná Beauty - and the business has skyrocketed with her signature item, the Marshmallow Sponge.

The 25-year-old developed the sponge after being a long-term eczema sufferer. She explained she wanted a product that could both be delicate and blend the make-up quickly.

"For the first couple of years, every single penny got reinvested so I did not pay myself for quite a while," she said.

"I started with £530 that my nana gifted me and any bit of profit it made had to go back into the business in order for it to grow. It has only been in the last year that I have been allowing myself to do stuff with my money."

With Chloe's hard work, she has been able to enjoy the recompenses of her business, including buying her first house last August and flying in first class.

Her business became viral on TikTok leading to several celebrities and influencers such as Nikkie de Jager, James Charles and Mikayla Nogueira to try out her sponge.

She explained: "TikTok is not just sunshine and rainbows, but in the first stages of my business, it was a vital part.

"When I started with TikTok it was seen as cringey. A lot of people were watching it but were not participating. The timing was very much on my side on that point so I was glad that I avoided people's opinions and did not let them get to me that much. It worked out well for me in the end."

The business owner explained that after her viral TikTok videos, the sponges were selling out 'instantly' within the hour. Chloe admits that she thought the interest in her product would be temporary.

She said: "I always thought it was just a hype, so when it came around to the next restock I was only ordering 2000 when I maybe should have ordered 10,000. I was too scared because obviously I did not want to change the prices because I was scared people would stop supporting me so the profits were a lot shorter.

"It got to the point where we were selling out every single restock. Every two months we would have a restock and people would get so frustrated, the website would crash and then I thought that the marshmallow is here to stay and more and more people are wanting it."

Clomaná Beauty is currently a renowned world brand with sales being recorded around Australia, Hong Kong, Thailand and India.

As for future plans, the business owner says she wants to continue growing her brand but to help other business owners.
