A group of Complementary and Alternative Therapists are holding a Charity Event to raise funds for St Mary's Hospice.

Three therapists, who work at The Natural Health Centre in The Gill at Ulverston hope to make a difference with a generous donation to a charity close to their hearts.

On Saturday April 20, the team will be offering Acupuncture Pain Relief and Colour Therapy as well as massage and Reiki.

Acupuncture is a treatment derived from ancient Chinese medicine, where fine needles are inserted at specific points of the body while Colour therapy is a holistic practice that uses the seven main colours of the spectrum and light to balance the body.

Massage is the rubbing or kneading of the body's soft tissues to relieve tension and pain while Reiki is an ancient Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that promotes healing by "laying on hands”.

Jacqui Gill, Roy Watkins and Wendy Richardson are hoping to raise at least £500 through their treatment and therapies.

Jacqui Gill said: “I have chosen this charity because I worked as a carer in this area for 13 years and have known clients use St Mary's on a few occasions. A former client's daughter sadly passed away in there quite recently. End of life care is very close to my heart, having been closely involved in this work. In the past I have donated money from giving elderly clients back massages.  I feel wholeheartedly happy to support the essential work they do, as are my fellow Therapists.”
