A new exhibition showing off work by local artists will open this weekend in Barrow.

Barrow Society of Artists is putting on a display at Home Images Art Gallery on Duke Street.

The exhibition will highlight the work of 24 artists across a range of mediums from watercolours to textiles.

The display will run from March 23 to April 20 and open Monday to Saturday between 10am and 5pm.

Barrow Society of Artists has been established since 1953, offering classes, demonstrations and exhibitions to over 60 members at this time.

Barrow Society of Artists committee member Steve Cook is organising the exhibition. He said: “Normally it takes place annually at the Dock Museum but they are having a lot of building work going on so it wasn't feasible to hold it there this year.

“Home Images Art Gallery is kindly holding it this year for us. They are a long established Gallery and Framers who we have a good relationship with, and who always try to promote art in the area.”

Barrow Society of Artists website is currently being redesigned after introducing a new committee who decided the page was in need of ‘revamping it as it has become a bit stale and outdated’.  However, their Facebook page is updated daily.
