BBC Hairy Biker's star Si King has warned of a heartless scam following the death of his co-star Dave Myers.

A post appeared on the duo's Hair Biker Instagram story yesterday evening (March 8) warning followers to beware of a fake account that has been set up.

The post said: "Hello everyone, it's come to our attention that someone has set up a fake 'Si King' profile asking for donations for Dave's family.

"This is a scam so please avoid clicking on anything or giving out any personal information! Please block and report the page. We are aware of the situation and are working to get it resolved. The HB team."

Barrow-born Dave Myers passed away on February 28 after he shared with fans in May 2022 that he had been diagnosed with cancer.

He chose to keep private what type of cancer he had and passed away aged 66.

Just the day before the post, Dave's wife Lili posted a lovely heartfelt message to his fans, saying: "I will never be able to thank you all enough for the massive wave of love, compassion and care that you have shown towards me, Simon and our families in these past days since Dave passed.

"I want you all to know that I have read every single message and comment that you sent… your stories about Dave, your feelings you shared with me mean a lot and my heart is filled with gratitude and love.

"It amazes me how many hearts he touched and how many people wanted to express their love for what Dave and Si have created for nearly 20 years. I know the Hairy Bikers have been part of your living rooms for such a long time and I feel your loss as much as you feel mine!"

A book of condolences has been opened at the Forum in his home town so locals can pen messages to the Barrow-born celebrity.

Touching tributes were left to the Hairy Biker, including by Barrow mayor Chris Altree.

Cllr Altree thanked him for being 'one of Barrow's biggest champions', adding: "I hope the people and the town continue to do you proud. RIP and god bless."
