WYLL Stanway, the younger brother of professional footballer Georgia Stanway, has been called up for the England C squad.

The former Chetwynde school pupil, who plays goalkeeper for Chester FC, will join England C squad to face Wales C.

The game will take place at Stebonheath Park, the home of Llanelli Town AFC, on Tuesday March 19.

Chester FC manager Calum McIntyre said: “Everyone at the club is delighted for Wyll on receiving an England C Call Up.

“It is appropriate recognition for Wyll as one of the best goalkeepers outside of the EFL.

“He is having a terrific season, and this international recognition is richly deserved. He has worked incredibly hard during this campaign, and it is so pleasing to see him get his rewards.

“We think a lot of Wyll and are immensely proud of him and are extremely pleased for him on earning this opportunity.”

Chetwynde School Headteacher Steve Jefferson said: "We are very proud of Wyll on his call up to the England C squad and we wish him lots of luck in the match against Wales.

“Being a goalkeeper is a pressure role but he has the right character and has maturity beyond his years and we know he will do well.

“He was keen on sport at school and we supported him through that and we hope he will come back to see us, speak to our students and talk about his experiences.

“Chetwynde has a long history of students who go on to sporting success and we also send our congratulations to Joshua Blinkhorn who has been included this week in the Under 19s squad for the England Community Lions. Joshua was a great student when he was here and did well in his rugby league being called up to England when he was at school. It is great to see him carrying on to succeed in his rugby for his club and his country.”
