Young footballers playing across Barrow and Furness will no longer be allowed to wear 'mini' shin pads.
The news was announced by the Barrow and District Junior Association Football League on Tuesday evening following the result of a vote undertaken by its member clubs.
The vote, which took place during the special general meeting, was unanimous in introducing the outright ban with this coming into effect immediately.
A spokesperson from the BDJFL said: "This is to support all our clubs and teams in our league who have already banned these mini shin pads at training and matches - we feel they deserve our support and backing as a league.
"Player welfare is priority and in grassroots football that everyone stays safe and well - shin pads play a part of this for all players."
