An exploration of deaf history in Barrow is to be showcased in a new film thanks to a national grant.
The Cumbria Deaf Association will be celebrating 130 years of the charity's history and its influence in the region.
The news came after it was revealed that Westmorland and Furness Council, supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, will be supporting 20 local organisations.
The association added: "We'll be interviewing people about the 130 years of history of Barrow Deaf then taking it on tour to schools and groups in the area."
From next week, Digitspace will be working at the charity's centre on Duke Street for an art project collecting 130 hand impressions to mark the anniversary.
All are welcome, with doors open February 12-15, between 10:30am and 3:30pm.
