At the weekend, the Mail asked its readers which long lost pubs they missed the most. Many came up time and time again with names from Barrow's most famous roads such as Cornwallis Street and Rawlinson Street.
According to recent figures by Alex Probyn, president of property tax at Altus Group, pubs in England and Wales are closing at a rate of two a day.
Before the government introduced more pub preservation laws in 2015, which gave greater protection to pubs deemed important to communities, many were demolished which may have otherwise been saved.
