A SWAMINARAYAN Hindu marching band playing the bagpipes processed through Bowness.
Hundreds of Swaminarayan Hindus went through Bowness on Friday, August 18, which was organised by Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Bolton, the temple in the Greater Manchester town.
The procession travels through Bowness in memory of previous leaders Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa and Ved Ratna Acharya Swamishree Maharaj.
According to Windermere Lake Cruises, Bowness is a sacred site for the followers as Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa visited the town and went on a cruise before his death in 1979.
The parade set off from the village centre at 9.30am and went to Bowness Pier. The procession included an ornate chariot, dancers and bagpipe bands.
A road closure was in place from Bowness Royalty Cinema to Bowness Piers to allow the procession to go through, and many people turned out to see the march.
