MORE than three million pounds in funding has been committed to fixing potholes across Westmorland and Furness.
Barrow and Furness MP Simon Fell has welcomed the £3,005,600 investment which will improve road standards for drivers, save them money on repairs and make it easier to get around.
More than 60,000 potholes will be repaired, said Mr Fell.
It comes as the Government is investing £200 million to fix potholes across England on top of £2.7bn highway maintenance funding already pledged.

Mr Fell said: “People in Barrow and Furness should be able to get to work and to see friends and family without fear of damaging their vehicles due to poor quality roads.
“That is why I am delighted the Government is investing over £3 million across Westmorland and Furness authority to fix potholes.
“Since being elected potholes and highway issues are one of my most common casework complaints from constituents.
"I am looking forward to seeing this funding being used across the constituency to improve the roads and quality of people’s journeys.”
Transport Secretary Mark Harper added: “Potholes are a blight on Britain’s roads.
"This latest round of funding shows we are committed to supporting all road users – from motorists to cyclists and bus passengers – and making journeys smoother and safer for all.”
