CUMBRIA County Council’s Ulverston Day Services team hosted their Christmas Fair at the Coronation Hall.

Dozens of locals flocked to the famous hall to get a taste of various craft stalls to start their early festive shopping.

More than 50 craft stalls were set up in and around the hall, with locals displaying their excellent crafting skills across the region.

The event was free to attend and featured craft stalls selling hand-made gifts ideal for Christmas shopping.

Shoppers were entertained by the local MAKATON choir, who performed on the Coronation Hall stage throughout the day.

Jenny Troughton, who’s stall featured buntings and glittered hats, said craft fair’s are vital for Ulverston.

She said: “I make various craft items during my spare time.

“Items include badges and keyrings, which take around 20 minutes to make.

“It is something to keep me going throughout the day.

“The craft fair at Ulverston is always popular and it’s important to the town.”

Deidre Kerr, who’s stall featured knitted hats and snowmen, said it’s good to see people at craft fairs.

She said: “The craft fair is always busy and this event has been no exception.

“It is great to see so many people coming down to support craft sellers and buying gifts for loved one for Christmas.

“The MAKATON choir were great to watch so the event was a success.

“It is nice to see people coming to buy presents rather than going online to do it.”

Libby Lea, a supervisor with Ulverston day Services, said:

“This was a brilliant community event.

“We has lots of talented craftspeople around the South Lakes join us and shared their skills.

“There was all sorts of gift ideas and unique presents for that special someone.”
