2 BEAUTY and the Beast is the festive fable bound for Keswick. The timeless tale of the true nature of beauty and the transformational power of love is brought to life at Theatre by the Lake in Laurence Boswell’s thrilling and inventive adaptation filled with music, dance and song. Running from Friday, November 23 until Saturday, January 12, it promises a true feast for the imagination for Christmas, when Beauty’s father hears that his long-lost ship packed with pearls has landed safely in harbour, his family’s dreams come true. 3 SPECIAL effects of the amazing kind feature in The Forum's yuletide yarn Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Pop along to the Barrow theatre and see the beautiful Snow White and her seven little friends from the enchanted forest as they attempt to defeat the evil Wicked Queen who is overcome with jealously when her magic mirror declares that Snow White is the fairest in all the land. 4 GRASMERE Players festive offering is a new adaptation of Treasure Island - The Panto, running from Thursday, December 13 until Saturday, December 15 at Grasmere Hall (7.30pm). Written and directed by Anne Miller, the show sticks pretty well to Robert Louis Stevenson’s famous yarn about buried treasure, Long John Silver, pirates, murder and mayhem with the addition of lots of pantomime fun. 5 THE Wizard of OZ runs at Carlisle's Sands Centre from Monday, December 10. Heading down that particular yellow brick road will be Britain’s Got Talent winner Ashleigh Butler and her 'Crufts Agility Champion' dog Sully, who will be off to see The Wizard, playing Dorothy and Toto. Also travelling over the rainbow in the wonderful pantomime version of L Frank Baum's much-loved story is CFM’s breakfast presenter, and pantomime favourite Robbie Dee. Box office on 01228-633766.
