THE scenic beauty and the dangers of the South Cumbrian and North Lancashire coast feature in a talk by the Askam and Ireleth Local History Group.

Dr Jean Turnbull will give her presentation on A Tour of Morecambe Bay from 7.30pm on Thursday at the Duddon Road Methodist Church, Askam. All are welcome.

A spokesperson for the group said: "This is a fascinating look at one of the most beautiful but dangerous and constantly changing coastlines in our country."

The speaker is a historical geographer with a particular interest in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

She has published material on everything from migration and the co-operative movement to friendly societies and inter-war housing.
