A BRASS reminder of the Barrow shipyard restoration of iconic steam locomotive Flying Scotsman could sell for more than £2,000 at auction next week.
The commemorative plaque was one of a pair fixed to either side of the cab in 1978 after the loco underwent a major overhaul at Vickers.
One sold for £2,100 two years ago and the second is being offered for sale in the Saturday, November 17, sale by G. W. Railwayana Auctions at Pershore, Worcestershire.
The plaques were on the locomotive until another overhaul at Steamtown, Carnforth, in 1985 — when one went to the regular driver and the other to the fireman.
A spokesman for the auctioneers said: "Flying Scotsman was the first locomotive to be overhauled at Vickers for more than half a century.
"This item is unique in having the image of the locomotive as part of the plate."
The cast brass plate measures 13 inches by seven inches.
