THE A590 has re-opened after a car overturned near to Lindal Dip. 

Police were called at 9.10am to a report of a Citroen car which had overturned.

Police logged the incident as a minor injury road traffic collision involving one vehicle.

Police said the road has just reopened. 

One resident said earlier: "A590 closed at Lindal Dip police and amblance across the road."

Highways England has confirmed an incident was causing heavy congestion in both directions between Swarthmoor and the Elliscales roundabout for Dalton/Askam. 

The traffic lights at County Road crossroads in Ulverston were being manually operated by police with vehicles prevented from heading up the A590 towards Barrow. 

One motorist said: "Police closed road at the lights in Ulverston only wagons going through.Cars are going the old road by Mercedes garage and back on A590 at Hill Foot."
