CAKE, drama and fun activities helped mark a birthday for a South Cumbrian young group.

The Mail on May 13 in 1997 noted: “The Millom and Haverigg Rainbow Guides celebrate their 10th anniversary in style with some fun activities.

“The girls, aged between five and seven, held an activity day at St James’ School complete with their own birthday cake and candles.

“Group leader Susan Crowther said: ‘The group is a good idea because everyone has a good time and it gives them something to do’.

“They visited St James’ Church and St George’s Church where they did a performance based on Noah’s Ark.”
